Donald Miller on Abortion (and some other things)

Donald Miller, author of Blue Like Jazz, was interviewed before his prayer at the DNC:

Before I lose my cool and start yelling, I should point out the good things from this interview:

1. Yes, Christians should never be beholden to any political party.
2. Yes, we should not buy into wars just because a republican is leading them.
3. Yes, good job for saying you won't be used by the Democratic party.
4. Yes, we should try to limit abortion through socially "holistic" means.

Ok, time to yell. I was sickened by the smirk on his face when he said that making abortion illegal is a "pipe dream." This strikes me as particularly disingenuous and speaks more to his personal ideology than his biblical belief. If the killing toddlers by their parents were legal in America, would Mr. Miller be so passive and dismissive? Let's hope not. Evil has clearly crept into the hearts of many young Christians who have been fatigued by this issue. Though the issue has been mangled by both parties, that should not dissuade us from treating the issue as Christ would. Miller talked about using a "holistic" approach to ending abortion. Doesn't that mean trying to end it every way we can? Probably not, as this word has lost all meaning. He really means, "We should do all things to reduce abortion without making anyone mad." Unreal.

Again, this is Miller's personal, reactionary ideology. He does not look at abortion as a blood bought believer but as someone who grew up amidst the world of Christians=Republicans. He rightly rejects the latter view, but throws the baby out with the bathwater. And in this case, he does so literally.

I post again the right, biblical response to this from Piper:
