He's not well known, at least by name. But
he's dead. He was the undisputed king of the 80's comedy, writing screenplays for
Pretty in Pink,
Ferris Bueller's Day Off,
The Great Outdoors and many others. Beyond his gift for writing funny comedy, he had a heart and wasn't afraid to bring that to his scripts. Movies like
Uncle Buck,
The Breakfast Club and
Trains, Planes and Automobiles were as hilarious as they were human, compassionate. Hughes' movies are some of the only ones that I will watch over and over.
